I’m planning to file for a mutual consent divorce in Gwalior Family Court and wanted to understand how the process works. Both me and my spouse have agreed to separate, but we are not very familiar with the legal steps involved.

Can anyone explain the procedure for filing mutual consent divorce in Gwalior? What documents are required, and how many times do we need to appear in court? Also, how long does the whole process usually take?

If someone has gone through this process in Gwalior, please share your experience or any tips to make it smoother.

The process for mutual consent divorce in Gwalior is quite simple if both partners agree.

First, you and your spouse need to file a joint petition in the Family Court mentioning that you both want to separate and have agreed on things like alimony, child custody, and property. You’ll need basic documents like marriage certificate, ID/address proof, photos, and a written settlement.

After filing, the court records your first motion statement. Then there is usually a 6-month cooling-off period (sometimes waived in special cases). After that, you both appear again for the second motion, and the court grants the divorce.

In most cases, the full process takes around 6 months to 1 year, depending on court timelines.

It’s always better to take help from a divorce lawyer to make sure everything is filed correctly and there are no delays. You can explore Gwalior lawyers for general guidance and also check divorce lawyers in Gwalior  for more specific help.

Overall, if everything is mutually agreed, the process is smooth and not very complicated 👍
